Grit problems vary with each water resource recovery facility (WRRF), so the solutions need to be customized to meet WRRF expectations. Achieving these custom solutions requires a quantitative working definition for grit and identifying a methodical approach for designing and addressing a WRRF's specific concern. This article presents case studies that illustrate this methodical process.
